The Workshop - Work with your personal digital imagery
Wayne’s current techniques using wax and digital imagery are a culmination of experimenting with materials for art making. Combining a variety of media has always been part of his approach to creating and expanding an idea into a new direction. This workshop will be a mixed media approach to working with your own digitally printed images and encaustic paint. Student’s photographic images will be printed before the workshop on Japanese papers by Wayne, and brought to Mexico for you to work with. To add to the mix we will include mark making, India ink, collage, acrylic paint, powdered charcoal, pencil, and more. In addition, glass will be introduced as a surface to work on (with/ or without encaustic paint! This will be an exciting adventure, learning new techniques for your imagery.

Mixed Media on glass. We will explore both with and without encaustic. Notice the layers of stains, stamping of grids, and some random mark making.
What’s Included
Just about everything you need. Wayne prints your photos and the studio has practice boards, tools, heat guns, hot plates, and a garden setting to take breaks.
Lunches on the patio; coffee, tea all day
Tessa’s help - I’ll send you a list of things to do in SMA, do plan on a few days extra. Plus, the famous art walk of Fabrica Aurora is Oct 4th, 5-7pm. I’ll send you a list of my favorite hotels to make that step an easy one. Tessa has 35 years in San Miguel, no worries, you are in good hands.
